Paxton Access Control

Paxton Access specialize in access control solutions. Their development team are focused on designing systems that are fit for their purpose, containing the important features that are necessary for well-run organisations. Their commitment has resulted in our products winning a reputation for reliability and ease of use.

PAXTON ACCESS CONTROL

Paxton Access manufacture two types of access control system; Stand alone and PC based.

Standalone access control

This type of system may be used to control access on one or many independent doors in a building. Access is gained by using a numeric code, or PIN with a keypad, or by presenting a proximity or magstripe token, depending on which type of reader is fitted.

Access Control

These systems are programmed at each door. If tokens need to be barred or codes changed, this action must be completed at every door on the system.

Typical applications:

  • Small business premises
  • Sports clubs
  • Storage units
  • Any small or medium sized site requiring access control

There are 2 types of Paxton stand alone systems offered:

(a) Compact Sysytem

Access Control

Compact systems can be fitted to one door or many doors in a building. Additional doors may be added as required.

Key features:

  • 10,000 users (PROXIMITY & CARDLOCK), up to 50 codes (TOUCHLOCK)
  • Simple token management
  • Scaleable; systems can be added to easily
  • Available as PROXIMITY, magstripe (CARDLOCK) or keypads (TOUCHLOCK)

Typical applications:

  • Small business premises
  • Sports clubs
  • Any low-risk internal door
  • Apartment complexes
  • Storage units

(b) Switch 2 System

A standalone solution, which uses a separate control unit for higher security. The Switch2 control unit is housed on the inside or safe side of the door. The control unit is used in conjunction with a Paxton Access reader or keypad. This provides higher security than a compact system. Switch2 is the standalone solution for external and higher security internal doors.

Access Control

Switch2 systems are available with a choice of PROXIMITY or CARDLOCK (magstripe) readers or TOUCHLOCK keypads. Switch2 has a larger range of compatible readers than Compact and may also be used with a combined keypad/proximity reader. Access is gained by using a code or PIN with a keypad, or by presenting a valid token to readers. Simple token management using our token packs makes administration straightforward.
Switch2 systems can be fitted to one or many doors in a building. Additional doors may be added as required.
If you are choosing a standalone system but may want to upgrade to a PC based system in the future, Switch2 is the right choice. Only the control unit would need to be replaced. Readers and other hardware are compatible with both systems.

Key features:

  • 10,000 users (PROXIMITY & CARDLOCK), up to 50 codes (TOUCHLOCK)
  • Separate control unit and reader (high security)
  • Simple token management
  • Scaleable; systems can be added to easily
  • Relay output
  • Available as PROXIMITY, magstripe (CARDLOCK) or keypads (TOUCHLOCK)

Typical applications:

  • Small business premises
  • Sports clubs
  • Schools
  • Apartment complexes
  • Storage units
  • Sites requiring high security
  • Car park barriers

PC based access control

Referred to as 'PC based' or 'Networked' access control, these systems may be used to control one or many doors in a building. Access is gained by using a numeric code, or PIN with a keypad, by presenting a proximity or magstripe token or by 'possession' with hands free tokens depending on which type of reader is fitted. PC based access control offers central control, via a network.

Access Control

This means that commands given at the PC are sent to each of the doors. A token can be barred from all of the doors instantly. Another benefit of this type of system is flexible control, allowing you to grant different permissions for individuals or groups of users.
Reports may also be generated to see who went where and when. Many systems allow control of additional buildings via existing LAN/WAN. PC based systems are increasingly being used to control other services within buildings, for example intruder alarms, fire doors, lifts and lighting.

Key features:

  • PC based system
  • Central control of privileges
  • Manage 100s of doors, 10,000 users
  • Event reporting
  • Scaleable; add to systems easily
  • Integrate other building systems
  • Proximity, magstripe or keypads

Typical applications:

  • Small/medium premises
  • Large corporate premises
  • Multiple-site premises
  • Government buildings
  • Universities
  • Sports clubs
  • Car parks

Net2 has even more to offer!

All of the above are the essentials of a good PC based access control system. Net2 however, offers even more functionality.

intruder alarm

Intruder alarm integration

Nominate those who have permission to unset and set the intruder alarm. When they present their token to the door, the alarm will unset prior to the door unlocking. If the alarm is set, only these nominated people will be able to access the building. This easy-to-use feature helps prevent false alarms.

Access Control

SMS/Email messaging

Through its easy-to-use ‘Triggers and Actions' function, Net2 can send SMS or emails when a specified trigger happens. Get an SMS message sent to your mobile if a door is forced; have an email sent to you when staff arrive late!

view ip

View IP camera images

See who is at the door, before you let them in. View what is happening throughout your building.

Integrated Security Systems

Control lighting and heating

Turn lights on when you arrive in the morning; turn them off when the alarm is set at night - easy with ‘Triggers and Actions’.

Access Control

Hands free

Hands free access control enables any Net2 door equipped with P series PROXIMITY readers to achieve hands free ranges of up to 2.5m. Doors are converted to hands free simply by wiring a hands free interface between the reader and control unit. Hands free tokens are then supplied to users who require hands free access. Both standard Net2 and hands free tokens will work on a Net2-equipped door.
