There are many options to make sure your cameras see in both daylight and lowlight. This section here should give you an overview of how you can achieve excellent images in both day and night.
Make sure your CCTV system is designed to give you good images in all light conditions or you will be paying full price for half a CCTV system.

In extremely low light conditions, using infrared lighting for your CCTV system is the most reliable way of achieving sharp images in near 0 lux. See the example below of a typical Mono camera in near 0 lux. As you will see it's useless without the infrared lighting.
